Investment Advising Firm Seeks In-house Corporate Counsel (can be based in Los Angeles or New York)
Our client is an investment adviser that focuses on alternative investment strategies and provides investment consulting services primarily to institutional investors, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, and financial institutions. We placed the General Counsel with the company in 2006 and the company has offices in Los Angeles and New York. Our client is looking to add an attorney with 3-6 years of experience. While being based in Los Angeles is preferable, the company will consider candidates who are based in New York. CA bar admission is not required, but admission to a state bar is. The ideal candidate will possess three to six years of experience working on private investment funds. Additional experience with ’40 Act funds and/or credit investments is also helpful. Other experience will include reviewing and negotiating agreements, administrative compliance with agreements, compliance with regulatory requirements, and closing of transactions.
Our client offers competitive compensation, and a very generous benefits package (including a 401k match). The company is an equal opportunity employer. To learn more, please contact Barbara Levenson: email@example.com.

Our client is a Santa Monica based, SEC registered investment advisor that focuses on credit investing in below investment grade bond markets. The firm manages ~$15 billion, for primarily institutional investors.
The company is looking for a professional with 3-5 years of experience in tax law and tax compliance. The position will be part of the Structured Products business and will work closely with the company’s Structured Products investment team, internal tax, accounting, and operations teams. The California bar is not required for this position. The company has a great culture, flexible hours, and working remotely post-pandemic is possible. The job entails legal writing and other due diligence, transaction negotiation and documentation, and advising our client’s Investment Committee on the merits of potential transactions, and the underlying litigation. Judicial clerkship experience preferred. Top credentials required. Some basic Microsoft Excel experience is also required. The company is located in Marin County and easily accessible from San Francisco and the East Bay.
